Robert “Bobby” Cohen
Raised in Washington, DC, Robert “Bobby” Cohen was a varsity starter at Calvin Coolidge High School where he lettered six times — three times in each baseball and basketball. In 1961, his baseball team won the DC City Championship, with Bobby scoring the winning run and making the last out. He also represented Washington in the Championship American Legion Tournament, in Johnstown, PA. He played Division 1 baseball at Syracuse University from 1961-1965, and was the starting second baseman on the varsity team for three years. In his senior year at Syracuse, Bobby received the Dr. Thomas Manley Award for Outstanding Student Athlete. Bobby and Dr. Richard Reff co-founded the Bender JCC Sports Hall of Fame and helped plan and implement the format for the annual Dinner of Champions.
