Fall 2024 Session 1 Course Sessions | September 9, 2024 – January 28, 2025

Preschool Dance
Mondays, 3:45 – 4:30 PM | $635/members; $655/public or Tuesdays 3:45 – 4:30PM

The Bender JCC Dance classes will be taught by instructors from ACD Dance. Each class is a combination of multiple styles including Ballet, Jazz, Creative Dance, and Hip Hop. Students will warm up, stretch, work on locomotor progressions and center combinations. Skills include alignment, flexibility, cross body connection, right and left spatial awareness, and rhythm changes.  Students will learn a piece to perform in our end of the showcase scheduled for May 20. For this performance students will receive (and get to keep) their costume.  Ballet shoes are required. All ECC students will be picked up directly from their classrooms.

K – 1st Grade Dance
Tap and Jazz | Mondays, 4:45 – 5:45 PM | $680/members; $700/public

The Bender JCC Dance classes will be taught by instructors from ACD Dance. Each class is a combination of Jazz, and Tap. Students will warm up, stretch and work on center classical jazz combinations and down the floor progressions including leaps and turns.  Class moves on to the tap component where class focuses on rhythm and footwork development.  Students will learn a piece to perform in our end of the showcase scheduled for May 20. For this performance students will receive (and get to keep) their costume.  It’s a wonderful way to add the performance component to the art form of Dance.  We are excited to highlight our students in this very positive and encouraging way while building self-confidence. Tan jazz shoes and tan tap shoes are requested. More details will be sent to registered dancers regarding attire and footwear.

Ballet | Tuesdays, 5:30 – 6:15 PM | $680/members; $700/public

Introductory Level of Ballet.  The Bender JCC Dance classes will be taught by instructors from ACD Dance. Students will work on stretches, strength training, barre work, center work, both adagio and allegro combinations and across the floor patterns. Students will prepare a piece to showcase in our End of the Year Performance on May 20. For this performance students will receive (and get to keep) his/her costume.  It’s a wonderful way to add the performance component to the art form of Dance.  We are excited to highlight our students in this very positive and encouraging way while building self-confidence. Ballet shoes are required. More details will be sent to registered dancers regarding attire and footwear.

2nd – 5th Grace Dance

Have you ever wanted to take a dance class?  Do you want to improve your skills for your school musical? Are you interested in trying out for the Pom team?  This class is for you! Each class is a combination of multiple styles. Styles included are Ballet, Jazz, Musical Theater and Hip Hop. This class is for students that are looking for a fun, energetic way to explore different types of movement and enhance their performance skills. Skills include, flexibility, leaps, turns, jumps and musicality. Students will learn a piece to perform in our end of the showcase scheduled for May 20. For this performance students will receive (and get to keep) their costume.   It’s a wonderful way to add the performance component to the art form of Dance.  We are excited to highlight our students in this very positive and encouraging way while building self-confidence. Tan jazz shoes are required. More details will be sent to registered dancers regarding attire and footwear.

High School Dance
Mondays, 6:45 – 7:45 PM| $680/members; $700/public

The Bender JCC offers a full in-person Dance curriculum with instruction in a variety of disciplines for students at all levels.  We have partnered with ACD Dance again for the 2023-24 school year and all of our classes will be taught in person by their instructors. ACD Dance provides excellent instruction in small classes focusing on classical training for boys and girls ages kindergarten through middle school.  ACD Dance takes great pride in offering quality dance instruction with a team of experienced faculty members from varied backgrounds in the field of dance including top educational degrees, touring performance work, and extensive teaching experience.

All classes will include age-appropriate instruction in a combination of multiple disciplines, including Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, Musical Theater and Tap. The atmosphere is one of enthusiasm for the dance arts while instructors focus on encouraging the development of talent, confidence, and self-discipline through individual attention.  The ACD Dance faculty is dedicated to teaching proper techniques and encouraging creative expression in a positive and rewarding environment. Students will learn a piece to showcase at the end of each session. Our in class performance will be the last week of Fall Session 2 classes with a performance at Kreeger Auditorium.
