From annual literary festivals and monthly book clubs to the Kass Judaic Library, the Bender JCC believes the literary arts have the power to educate, enlighten, and engage. Explore everything we have to offer book lovers at the Bender JCC.

Our annual festival returns with an astounding array of authors and programs exploring storytelling through words, music and images. Planning is well underway for our exciting, revamped literary series and we are busy assembling an outstanding line up of speakers and programs.

Sponsorship opportunities are available. For information on making a donation to the book festival or sponsoring an author event, please contact Lisa Del Sesto at 301-348-3756.

Kass Judaic Library

The Kass Judaic features new and classic Jewish books. The Library is currently closed for reorganization and will be moving to another location within the Bender JCC. Questions about the Kass Judaic Library? Contact Lisa Del Sesto at 301-348-3756.

Book Clubs

Looking for fellow book lovers? The Bender JCC boasts three book clubs spanning fiction to history, biography to contemporary issues. All book clubs meet at the Center. No registration is necessary.

Let’s Talk About It!: Discussions for Baby Boomers

Let’s Talk About It! is a Jewish (yet all interested persons are welcome, regardless of religious affiliation) singles group 45+ which meets on Sundays between 10:00 AM and 12:00 noon. Twice monthly, we discuss either a topic, movie, or book in the context of concerns that affect our lives and experiences. Our dialogues afford participants the opportunity to get to know one another and make new friendships.

Afterward, we go out to lunch at a nearby restaurant. For further information email Jay at

Hadassah Book Club

Created for Jewish women who love a good read, the Hadassah Book Club features a diverse selection of books and the opportunity to make new friends. The club’s selections—a mix of fiction and nonfiction books by Jewish authors and/or with Jewish themes—are all readily available in paperback or at the Kass Judaic Library. For more information, email Ellen.
