Joe Silverman was born and raised in Washington, D.C. He was a sports photographer for the Washington Evening Star newspaper beginning in 1960. From 1977 until the paper closed in 1981, Joe was the main sports photographer. He has been the primary sports photographer of the Washington Times Newspaper since 1982. He has covered Super Bowls, NCAA Championships, Major League Baseball, World Series, U.S. Open Golf, NBA Basketball and all local college athletics. Joe has received awards from the White House News Photographers Association, the Washington-Baltimore Newspaper Guild and the Maryland-Delaware-D.C.Press Association. He is a long-time member of Indian Spring Country Club, is a former member of the Washington Newspaper Guild and serves on the Board of Directors of the Progress Club and is a lifelong member of Adas Israel Congregation.
