Edward Solotar is recognized as an extraordinary swim coach. Beginning as a high school swim and track coach, Solotar coached the swim team at the JCC whenit was in Washington. Later as coach for several area Club Teams, he helped raise the caliber of competitive swimming in the Washington Metropolitan Area. He founded the Solotar Swim Team in 1971 and coached many national and world champion swimmers -among them, Olympic gold medalist Melissa Belote. Solotar was a coach of the US Swim Teams for the Maccabiah and Pan American Games, and worked to improve the swim programs of many nations. Solotar’s coaching enhanced the lives of many young people and the sport of swimming.
