Jewish Views on Transplantation and Organ Donation

Tuesday, January 10 | 1:15 PM | JCC Social Hall

Join the JCC Men’s Club for a special lecture by Rabbi Steven M. Glazer, DHL, DD, Bioethics Faculties, Georgetown, George Washington, and Uniformed Services University Schools of Medicine. One of the many “miracles” that recent advances in science and medicine have fostered is transplantation, the replacement of an organ. Transplants are closely related to several other recent innovations in technology. In this session, Rabbi Glazer will discuss transplantations from medical, scientific, ethical, and Jewish perspectives. He will also include the most recent advance in the field, xenotransplantations, i.e., transplantations from animals to humans. Finally, he will discuss the permissibility of organ donations according to Jewish law. Open to the community. Also, on Zoom.
