Ellen M. Zavian is the first female attorney/agent to represent NFL athletes and coaches, and has represented more than 40 NFL players during the course of her career. Ellen also has represented members of the 1996 US Women’s Soccer Team and the 1996 US Women’s Softball Team in contract negotiations with their governing bodies, as well as professional action sport athletes in negotiations with ESPN/Disney for the X-Games and NBC for the Gravity Games. Ellen held the title of Commissioner for the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (NCAA Div. II) from 2002-03. Ellen served as national coordinator for the NFL Players Association/Johns Hopkins NativeVision project, which addressed life issues facing the Native American population across the country. She has been a columnist for Street & Smith’s Business Journal, Brand Marketing and Operation Bass magazines, and writes freelance for Street & Smith’s PRO, Football Annual and College Basketball, and for Sports Illustrated for Women, Pro Football Weekly, USAToday.com and MSNBC.com, to name just a few. Ellen teaches sports law and management at George Washington University and serves as Associate General Counsel–Legal New Media for the Association of Corporate Counsel, an organization representing the needs of in-house counsel, leading the charge for the leading the charge for the Sports & Entertainment Group.
