Robert Ades (z’’l)

CATEGORY:Sports Attorney
YEAR INDUCTED:2025

Rob Ades attended Bullis and the University of Virginia, before graduating from the University of Miami, and the University of Miami School of Law.

Rob supported himself after college by working as a bartender and by coaching basketball at Jackson High School. His dream to become a basketball coach was cut short when a call from his father changed everything. His father said he was sick and that Rob needed to go to law school and support his mother. That’s what he did, but kept his hand in the basketball business by representing coaches in contract negotiations

With Digger Phelps of Notre Dame as his first client, others included Gary Williams and Jim Boeheim.

Rob’s best friend was Bob Staak, whom he met at Camp Robin Hood in Friendship, New Hampshire. Staak became a great player at University of Connecticut and went on to a coaching career that included a stop as an assistant coach with the Bullets.

Rob was always the first person you called if you were in trouble, and he was always there for you.
