Capon, a champion soccer player, was All-Met, All-State and All-County in high school, scoring the game winning penalty kick goal in the 1976 State Championship game. As goalkeeper three-year captain at the University of West Virginia he was All-South for three years and All-American in his senior year. He set a West Virginia University record with 29 career shutouts. He was a member of the 1981 Maccabiah soccer team that won a silver medal and later played professionally for the Baltimore Blast. Capon continues to coach youth soccer in the area.
