Men's Club Lecture: I Am Not Content: An Afternoon With Francis Perkins
- Ages 60+
- April 7 at 1:15 – 2:30 pm
Join the JCC Men’s Club for a special presentation by Kathie Mack in a one-woman play written by Steve LaRocque, retelling the life of Frances Perkins, Secretary of Labor under FDR and founder of Social Security. Much of the script is drawn from Perkins’ own writings. Set as a lecture at Cornell University, where she taught from 1957–1965, Perkins recounts key events, including the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire, her fight for worker safety, and her twelve years as FDR’s Secretary of Labor, shaping the New Deal and Social Security. Open to the community and on Zoom.
