Bender ECC Benefits

Sending a child to the Bender ECC grants you a family membership to The Bender JCC. This allows you and your family to have access to additional JCC facilities, including the Wasserman Gymnasium, our Fitness Center, and our two heated pools.

Small class sizes and thoughtful teacher-to-child ratios are at the heart of our approach. These intentionally designed environments allow educators to truly know each child by observing their interests, supporting their development, and responding with care. With more individualized attention, children feel seen, secure, and confident, which strengthens relationships, supports social-emotional growth, and creates the conditions for deep, meaningful learning every day.

The Bender JCC Early Childhood Center embraces an inclusive approach that supports children, families, and educators. We collaborate with families and experienced early childhood support professionals to understand each child’s strengths and learning style.

Our teachers are supported by a highly experienced Leadership Team with backgrounds in child development, early childhood education, special education, family engagement, and inclusive practice. The team works closely with educators to create thoughtful and intentional classrooms, grounded in best practice.

Public and Private therapists, including speech, occupational, or physical therapists, can offer on-site support services to support continuity between home and school. We are committed to ensuring that every child is in a classroom that best supports their learning, development, and well-being.

Our goal is simple and steadfast: to offer a safe, nurturing, and inclusive preschool community where every child is known, celebrated, and supported on their unique learning journey.

Swimming is a unique and valuable part of the experience at our school. As part of our commitment to safety, confidence, and whole-child development, children in our 4-year-old program participate in weekly group swim lessons throughout the school year. During the summer, children in our 3s and 4s program enjoy daily group swim lessons, while toddlers and 2s have the opportunity to visit the pool each day for water play and exploration. Rooted in Jewish values, we honor the mitzvah of teaching children to swim, an essential life skill that reflects our responsibility to protect and care for one another. These experiences build comfort in the water, strengthen motor skills, and foster confidence and joy, while giving children the lifelong benefit of early water safety skills.

A young girl stands by a small table set with play food and utensils in a classroom decorated with children's artwork and photographs.
A young child wearing a cap sits on a blue carpet, using a vintage laptop and holding a piece of equipment, surrounded by old electronics.

The JCC is more than a community center to our family, it has truly become our home. My kids look forward to every single day of preschool and get excited for any excuse to go back into the building to see familiar faces. The JCC Rockville is a very special place!

After 9 wonderful years in the preschool, we will “graduate” this year. We take with us fond memories, and deep friendships with the families we have met during our time there.
