Skip Monsein
A champion since high school where he captained the swim team, Monsein was offered 21 college scholarships for swimming. He entered the University of Pittsburgh, andafter being sidelined briefly by a mistaken diagnosis of heart problems, Monsein was back in the swim, becoming the Gold Medalist at the Eastern Collegiate Championships and a member of the All American Swim Team. In 1953, Monsein won a silver medal for the 100 meter backstroke at the 4th Maccabiah games. Forty years later, Monsein returned, entering ten Masters level events at the 14th Maccabiah Games … and won all ten.
