Dr. Rachel Chernikoff Zang was born in Washington, D.C. She started playing soccer at the JCC of Greater Washington at age 5. Rachel played 4 years of varsity soccer and 3 years of varsity basketball at Walter Johnson High School in Bethesda. In high school Rachel was a three-time all-Montgomery County and two-time all-state soccer player. She then played 4 years of varsity soccer at Harvard College, being named co-captain senior year. The team won the Ivy League title in 1995 and 1996, and twice appeared in the NCAA tournament. Following college, Rachel attended the University of Maryland School of Medicine and later joined a group pediatric practice in Silver Spring.
