Steve Sands was born in Washington, DC, where he lived for the first 12 years of his life, before his family moved to Rockville, Maryland. He is a graduate of Charles W. Woodward High School and Colorado State University. Steve began his career in 1990 as an intern at CNN Sports. He subsequently held sports anchor jobs in Scottsbluff, Nebraska; Oak Hill, West Virginia; Martinsburg, West Virginia; Utica, New York; Richmond, Virginia; and Orlando, Florida. He has been in his current position as Golf Channel anchor/reporter since 2001.
