Federation’s Mitzvah Mavens and JWRP GDD 2019
Please join us for an afternoon of women helping women.
Federation’s Mitzvah Mavens and JWRP (Jewish Women’s Renaissance Project) are working to benefit women’s health and wellness through hands-on service projects. Women from around our community will join together to make 2 traditional challahs from scratch (to donate to Nourish Now) and sort bras and feminine hygiene products to distribute to vulnerable women as a part of Good Deeds Day.
In honor of this event Sharsheret and Myriad will be offering educational resources. BRCA screening and testing by a local provider will be available after the event. Please bring your insurance card.
- Make challah for the hungry with the Great Pink Challah Bake
- Hear from the founder of I Support the Girls and sort bras and feminine hygiene products to distribute to vulnerable women.
- Raise awareness about breast cancer and the BRCA1 gene in Ashkenazi women, get tested for BRCA and hear from a Cancer survivor
Sunday, April 7, 2019
1:00 – 3:00 PM
Bender JCC of Greater Washington

Rockville, MD 20852
Please use our Amazon Wish List by April 1 to contribute supplies that will be used during our activities.
While you’re volunteering – step out to a private room to inform yourself about and get tested for BRCA* with Myriad health (please bring your insurance card).
*BRCA testing is a genetic test that looks at the sequence or code of the BRCA1 and/or BRCA2 genes. Changes or mutations in the genetic code indicate increased cancer risks. It is estimated that around 1 in 40 people of Ashkenazi Jewish ancestry are BRCA positive relative to 1 in 300-400 in the general population. It takes about three weeks to get results.
