Each year we join together as a Greater Washington community to remember the Holocaust. This year’s commemoration “Hate Speech and the Holocaust,” considers lessons that are ever more relevant to the actions we take today.

2:30 – 4:00 PM

Teen Program
Teens confront the impact of hate speech in discussions with a Holocaust survivor and members of Operation Understanding DC.
A youth led ceremony concludes the program. Learn more here.

Unto Every Person There Is A Name
An annual worldwide name reading program coordinated by B’nai B’rith International. Names may be submitted online or brought to the commemoration.

Community Art & Artifacts Exhibits
Youth and professional artists will display works reflecting upon this year’s theme of hate speech and the Holocaust. View youth and community artists’ original works inspired by the Holocaust and created for this year’s observance.

Intergenerational discussions with Holocaust survivors. All are welcome.

4:00 – 5:30 PM

Community-Wide Commemoration 
Memorial service honoring the survivors, victims, and heroes of the Holocaust, including a survivor sharing her living testimony*
