Join author Christine Yu, author of Up to Speed: The Groundbreaking Science of Women Athletes, in conversation with Run Farther & Faster coaches, Lisa Levin and Julie Sapper, at the Bender JCC of Greater Washington to learn how the latest science can help girls and women achieve their athletic potential and avoid injury. In her new book, Up to Speed, Christine Yu disentangles myth and gender bias from real science, making the case for new approaches that can help women athletes excel at every stage of life, from adolescence to adulthood, through pregnancy, menopause, and beyond. Yu explains the latest research and celebrates the researchers, athletes, and advocates pushing back against the status quo and proposing better solutions to improve the active and athletic lives of girls and women. Books will be available for purchase and signing.

Christine Yu is an award-winning journalist whose work focuses on the intersection of sports science and women athletes. Her writing has appeared in Outside, The Washington Post, Runner’s World, and other publications. She’s a lifelong athlete and yoga teacher who loves running, surfing, and skiing. She lives in Brooklyn, New York.

Lisa Levin and Julie Sapper are RRCA Certified running coaches, top ranked DC-area runners, and Boston Marathoners. As co-founders of their coaching company, Run Farther & Faster, they have had the privilege of coaching over a thousand runners of all levels throughout the United States and beyond. They are also the hosts of the Run Farther & Faster Podcast.
