Join the JCC Men’s Club for a presentation by member Raymond Scalettar, MD, on the remarkable legacy of Jewish philanthropist Julius Rosenwald. Best known for funding more than 5,000 schools for African American children in the segregated South, Rosenwald also supported many other transformative initiatives. Dr. Scalettar will explore how Peter Ascoli’s book, Aviva Kempner’s documentary, and Dorothy Canter’s efforts to establish a National Monument and Park honoring Rosenwald have renewed interest in this influential yet humble philanthropist.
