Coming of Age in Maryland

Coming of Age in Maryland offers monthly activities, excursions, and special events to members aged 60 and over. Activities include theater, museums, lectures, performances, “Food and Fun” restaurant outings that feature a game component, an annual health and wellness expo, and much more. Selma Sweetbaum Senior Satellite Programs

The Selma Sweetbaum Senior Satellite Program (Senior Satellite Program) strives to prevent isolation, improve nutrition, build community and enable participants to age in place with appropriate connections to support services. In addition to providing hot, nutritious kosher lunches, the program offers health and wellness opportunities such as exercise classes, blood pressure screenings, discussions, lectures and social programs to engage and stimulate the mind and spirit.

Games, Clubs & Interest Groups

Are you an amateur poker player who wants to take your game to the next level? Learn crucial strategies to maximize your chances to go far in tournaments. The goal is to increase the level of play and upgrade skills. Some basics will be reviewed.

From singers on stage to singers in the shower, all senior singers are welcome at the Bender JCC senior adult chorus. Led by Frieda, the chorus sings a varied repertoire of Yiddish, Hebrew, and Latino tunes, as well as some Russian and American song favorites! If you love to sing, you’re welcome to join!

Chorus meets on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month from 1:00 – 2:30 PM.

Song Circle meets on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the month from 1:00 – 2:30 PM, followed by refreshments.

Song sheets are provided and we sing mainly American folk songs.

The Jewish Chorus meets on all the other Tuesdays from 1:00 – 2:30 PM.

History lovers unite every fourth Thursday at 1:00 PM at the Bender JCC in a club devoted to all things historical. All history buffs welcome!

This course is for players who need a refresher.  It will cover the fundamentals of modern bidding, play of the hand and some defensive principles.

Created for older singles, this active group is for people who like to exchange ideas and meet others. Talk, schmooze, and make lasting personal connections. Participants aged 50+ are welcome!

The new emphasis of our group is to discuss either a topic, movie, or book in the context of concerns that affect our lives and experiences. Our dialogues afford participants the opportunity to get to know one another and make new friendships.
We are a Jewish (yet all interested persons are welcome, regardless of religious affiliation) mostly singles group 50+ which meets twice a month on Sunday mornings.
Afterwards, we informally go out to lunch at a nearby restaurant.
