Strengthen Muscles & Improve Balance
Walking is a complex movement in and of itself. Fall risk increases when you add in absence of movement (akinesia, freezing), slow movement (bradykinesia), rest tremor, rigidity, dystonia and other complications that present from diseases which cause movement disorders.
Standing balance can be lost, step alignment can be impaired, sideways or back & forth rocking can impair the gait. Weakness of muscles can complicate involuntary & voluntary defects in muscle movement.
This class uses Tai Chi to improve balance and gait for participants who suffer specifically from Parkinson’s, MS or have other movement related concerns.
