Federation’s Sara & Samuel J. Lessans Good Deeds Day
April 2, 2017
1:00 - 3:00 PM
Be the GOOD you want to see in the world!
Good Deeds Day is an annual, international celebration of Doing Good! Join more than half a million volunteers around the world for this day of service, putting into practice the simple idea that every single person can make a positive impact on the lives of others and change the world. Roll up your sleeves and make an impact through a variety of hands-on volunteer projects.
Businesswoman and philanthropist, Shari Arison conceptualized the idea for Good Deeds Day, and launched in 2007 by Ruach Tova (“Good Spirit” in Hebrew), the leading organization in the field of volunteering in Israel. Good Deeds Day celebrates the value and importance of giving back to the community we live in.
Good Deeds Day 2017
This year, our projects focus on helping to eliminate hunger in our community.
Here are the projects we will host on April 2:
- Oatmeal on the Run – Pre-packaged, just add hot water breakfast
- Snack in a Bag – Trail Mix
- Toiletry Kits – Assortment of toiletries
- Fresh Start Kits – Toothbrush, toothpaste, face/hand wipe and a granola bar
Leading up up to Good Deeds Day, we are collecting food items for the Capital Kosher Pantry — with an additional box for Peanut Butter & Jelly as well as Pasta & Pasta Sauce and Granola Bars
Keep your eye out for the collection boxes in the lobby the first week of March.
As a community, the Bender JCC will have collection boxes in the lobby for the following items:
- Food items listed above
- New Men’s White T-Shirts
- New Men’s White Socks
- Travel Sized Toiletries
Thank you in advance for your donations!
